An Idea for a New Decade: Using Peoples Data

Steve Rubel, Director of Insights for Edelman Digital, says this in their white paper on 10 Ideas for the new Decade – I thought it to be smart and relevant for businesses and would like to share this with you:

“…the future is about carefully using the data people generate to make smarter decisions”

As our lives become more and more part of a greater digital network, consumers are willingly putting information about themselves out there (myself being no exception) – marriage status, attitudes, opinions, preferences, hobbies etc. Privacy has indeed past it’s sell-by-date.

This the reason why Steve’s statement appeals to me: How businesses will become more savvy at considering the behavioural-, socio- and psychographics of one’s digital profile in planning it’s next marketing campaign.

Smart, targeted marketing.

What an opportunity for businesses.

Quote of the day on social media & your customers

“(social media)… is part of an overall customer experience management strategy, not marketing per se.”

- Larry Irons

Gone with the silo approach. Bridge your customer divide.
